FM discusses enhancing ties, cooperation with Benin’s counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between Egypt and Benin in various fields of common interest with counterpart Olusegun Adjadji.

In a phone call, Abdelatty praised the friendly relations between the two countries, stressing Egypt's keenness to work on enhancing ties in various fields, especially in infrastructure and energy projects.

Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed Egypt's commitment to supporting development efforts in Benin by providing training programs, capacity building, and providing technical support to Benin cadres in various fields, as well as enhancing cooperation in the field of combating maritime piracy in the West African region.

Minister Abdel Aati also offered his condolences for the victims of the brutal terrorist attack on Beninese forces at the border point with Niger and Burkina Faso, and stressed Egypt's solidarity, government and people, Benin in combating terrorist acts, expressing Egypt's readiness to transfer its expertise in the field of combating terrorism in light of the threats facing northern Benin.

The two ministers also reviewed cooperation within the framework of the African Union, stressing the need to enhance joint coordination in international forums to serve African issues, and to exchange support for the two countries' nominations for international positions.
