The announcement was made by Badawi during a press conference held by the authority to announce the Senate election schedule. He said that the submission of candidacy applications will take place daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the period from July 5 to July 10, except for the last day, when submissions will close at 2:00 PM. He added that the lists of candidates and their electoral symbols will be announced on July 11.
The administrative judiciary court will handle any appeals, if there are any, from July 14 to July 16, according to him. The final list of candidates will be announced on July 18, he said. July 20 is set as the deadline for withdrawing candidacies, and the election silence period will begin on July 31, he added.
The election results will be announced on August 12, followed by a 48-hour period for submitting appeals against them. The Supreme Administrative Court will then review the appeals within 10 days. Counselor Hazem Badawi, Chairman of the National Elections Authority (NEA), said the runoff phase in the Senate elections—if required—will begin with the silence period on August 24.
The runoff voting will take place abroad on August 25 and 26, and inside Egypt on August 27 and 28. The results of the runoff round will be announced on September 4. Badawi called on all eligible voters inside and outside Egypt to actively participate in the elections, noting that turnout at the ballot boxes is not merely an exercise of a constitutional right but also a fulfillment of a national and moral responsibility.
He explained that every ballot cast in the election is crucial in shaping the future of the nation. Badawi accentuated that the NEA is committed to transparency and honesty, highlighting the great efforts exerted by the authority over the past period in spreading awareness among voters, especially youth and women.
