Egypt releases 2,735 prisoners on October Victory anniversary

Egypt’s Ministry of Interior announced the release of 2,735 prisoners under a presidential pardon, marking the 52nd anniversary of the October Victory.

The ministry stated that the decision was made in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 565 of 2025, which grants clemency to inmates who meet the legal conditions for release.

According to the statement, specialized committees from the ministry’s Community Protection Sector reviewed the files of prisoners across reform and rehabilitation centers nationwide to identify those eligible for pardon. The review concluded with the decision to release 2,735 inmates.

The ministry stated that the move reflects its commitment to a modern rehabilitative penal policy, aimed at providing care for inmates and supporting their reintegration into society.

In recent years, thousands of prisoners have been released in Egypt through presidential pardons issued on national and religious occasions.
