Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber conducted a surprise inspection tour of several markets and outlets in southern Cairo to follow up on the availability of high-quality essential and strategic commodities at affordable prices for citizens. The tour comes in line with the directives of the political leadership to meet citizens’ needs and requirements.
Saber also inspected Tora’s one-day market, established by the Cairo Governorate in collaboration with the Supply Directorate and several private companies.
During the tour, Saber met with several citizens and made sure to listen to their opinions about the availability of essential commodities at the posted prices and required quality. The citizens said the commodities are available, and they were able to obtain their needs easily.
Moreover, Saber said the executive bodies in the governorate are intensifying inspection campaigns throughout Cairo to ensure the availability of sufficient quantities of commodities at affordable prices while maintaining strict control over the markets. These enhanced efforts also aim to combat commercial fraud and price manipulation, as well as to prevent monopolistic practices by certain traders. He added that the governorate is committed to expanding outlets and meeting the needs of citizens in addition to conducting regular follow-up inspections to ensure the quality of the products offered.
Saber also inspected a subsidized bakery in the Tora neighborhood to ensure compliance with the required specifications, including bread weight and quality, in addition to utilizing the full quota of flour to provide citizens with subsidized bread that meets the necessary standards.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ashraf Mansour, Director of the Supply Directorate Naser Thabet, and several officials of the Cairo governorate.
