IT Minister continues his meetings with officials from global companies

Dr Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with Ms Jacqueline Shi, Vice President of Huawei Cloud, and several leaders from Huawei in Barcelona, Spain. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation in cloud computing, applications of artificial intelligence, building digital capacities, and supporting start-ups. This took place during Dr Talaat's participation in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025.

The meeting also covered the key achievements made under the existing cooperation between the company and the National Telecommunications Institute in training youth across all governorates in the latest technological fields. Present at the meeting were Mr Li Shi, President of Huawei for North, West, and Central Africa, Mr Benjamin Hou, CEO of Huawei Egypt, and several company leaders.

During his visit to the company's booth at the exhibition, Dr Amr Talaat reviewed the latest technologies, solutions, and innovative services offered by Huawei. He also visited the booth of Ericsson to learn about the company's latest innovations and leading solutions aimed at accelerating the development of networks sustainably, with a focus on the uses of fifth-generation technology and related technologies.

Dr Talaat held a meeting with Mr Patrick Johansson, Senior Vice President and Head of the Middle East and Africa for Ericsson, along with several company leaders, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in building digital capacities, supporting digital innovation, and start-ups. The discussion included the notable achievements in the existing cooperation between the ministry and the company in the field of capacity building and support for innovation through Ericsson Egypt's AI lab within the Digital Egypt Innovation Centre at the Sultan Hussein Kamel Palace.

To attract more investments in the outsourcing sector, Dr Amr Talaat held several meetings with officials from global companies, highlighting the efforts to enhance Egypt's position as a global hub in the outsourcing industry and showcasing the facilities provided to companies through Egypt's Digital Strategy for the Development of the Outsourcing Industry 2022-2026, as well as Egypt's competitive advantages in this industry, most notably its advanced digital infrastructure and the availability of qualified human resources.

These meetings included a discussion with Mr Marco Hernanz, Executive Vice President and Head of Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for Salesforce, to explore the possibility of establishing a research and development centre for the company in Egypt. Dr Amr Talaat also met with Mr Alvaro Josi, CEO of Celfocus, a European company specialising in high-tech system integration services, where he invited the company to invest and establish a presence in Egypt and discussed the possibility of setting up an academy for building digital capacities.

Additionally, Dr Amr Talaat met with Dr Ahmed Mokhtar, CEO of Greyskies, to discuss the company's plans to expand in Egypt to provide IT services to its clients in the United States.

The meetings were attended by Eng. Raafat Hendy, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the development of technological infrastructure and digital transformation; Eng. Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA); Eng. Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt; Eng. Sherine Elgandy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Strategy and Implementation; Eng. Mahmoud Badawy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Digital Transformation Affairs; and Ms Samah Aziz, Supervisor of the Central Administration for International Relations at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
