The Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) announced the completion of all arrangements for the shift to winter time next Friday at midnight. In a statement, the NAT said it updated the operating schedules for Cairo Metro Lines 1, 2 and 3, along with the Light Rail Transit (LRT), to ensure smooth and high-quality services for millions of passengers.
Metro services on Lines 1 and 2 will begin operating at 5:15 am from the terminal stations of Helwan, New El-Marg, Shubra and El-Monib. The first train from Adly Mansour toward Cairo University, and in the opposite direction, will also depart at 5:15 am.
Additionally, the first service from Adly Mansour toward the Rod El-Farag Axis will leave at 5:20 am, and in the opposite direction at 5:15 am.
As for the last trains, the final departures from New El Marg and Helwan will be at 11:40 pm, from Shubra at 11:55 pm, and from El-Monib at 12:05 am. The final train from Adly Mansour heading toward Cairo University will depart at 11:33 pm, and in the opposite direction at 11:52 pm.
Meanwhile, the final service from Adly Mansour heading toward Rod El-Farag Axis will depart at 11:29 pm, and in the opposite direction at 11:55 pm.
The last interchange of Lines 1 and 2 will take place at Sadat Station at 12:25 am, and between Lines 1 and 3 at Nasser Station at 12 am.
The final connection between Lines 2 and 3 at Ataba Station will end at midnight, and at Cairo University Station at 11:45 pm. Regarding the LRT, the first train from Adly Mansour to the City of Arts and Culture will depart at 6:00 am, while the first train in the opposite direction will leave at 6:04 am.
Additionally, two direct trains from Adly Mansour to the City of Arts and Culture will begin operating at 7:30 am and 8:00 am.
The first service from New El-Obour toward Badr will depart at 6:48 am, and in the opposite direction at 6:34 am, while the first train from Badr to Adly Mansour will set off at 6:01 am. The last LRT train between Adly Mansour and the City of Arts and Culture in either direction will depart at 10:15 pm.
The final service from New El-Obour toward Badr will run at 10:39 pm, while the last departure from the City of Arts and Culture toward Badr will be at 10:45 pm. The final train from Adly Mansour to Badr will also leave at 10:45 pm, and in the opposite direction at 10:36 pm.
The statement added that Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir directed to maintain close monitoring of operations from central control rooms.
Senior supervisors will remain present across stations to ensure punctual train intervals and maintain order inside stations, supported by the deployment of additional empty trains during peak hours to ease congestion.
Emergency teams stationed across the network will remain prepared to respond immediately to any technical issues, in order to provide the highest level of service to passengers, the statement added.
Egypt is set to switch to wintertime on 31 October, setting clocks back by one hour at midnight, switching from the GMT+3 time zone to GMT+2.
