Tourism Ministry, Turkish Airlines officials discuss enhancing tourist traffic

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby held a meeting with General Manager of the Turkish Airlines Company in Cairo Muhammed Hamza Arslan to discuss ways of increasing cooperation to enhance incoming tourist traffic to Egypt through the Turkish company’s routes extending to various tourist markets.

Shalaby said one of the axes of increasing flights tops the national strategy for tourism development in Egypt, pointing out that one of its axes is increasing airline seats coming to Egypt, which contributes to achieving the goals of the Egyptian state, which is to reach 30 million tourists by 2028.

She added that the Ministry was ready, through the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, to cooperate with professional partners such as tour operators and airline companies to implement joint promotional campaigns to enhance the volume of their business in Egyptian tourist destinations, thus contributing to the promotion of the Egyptian tourist destination.

During the meeting, Arslan reviewed the company’s business volume in the Egyptian tourist destination and the number of flights it is currently operating.

He pointed out that three flights are operated daily from Turkey to Cairo and vice versa, noting plans to increase them to four, starting April.

Nine flights operate weekly from Turkey to Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria, in addition to flights from Turkey to the cities of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, which confirms the company’s desire and interest in expanding the volume of its business in Egypt from the various destinations it operates.

During the meeting, the possibility of the company operating its flights to the city of Luxor was discussed, especially in light of the growth and increase in the rates of tourist traffic arriving at the Egyptian tourist destination, in addition to working to increase its flights to the city of Sharm El Sheikh, and the possibility of operating flights to the city of El Alamein in the summer.
