State Minister for Military Production Mohammad Salah El-Din Mostafa said the Egyptian state is very interested in setting the stage for encouraging more environmental investment to confront climate change.
The move is also meant to promote participation of the private sector in projects that support this field, topped by ventures to establish and raise efficiency of waste recycling factories.
The minister’s remarks came while receiving Robert Valk, the Founder and CEO of Green Tech Egypt & Renergy Group Partners and Islam Ramadan, the Executive Director of the company.
Mostafa emphasized the ministry is keen on participating in various national projects that are mainly contributing to supporting comprehensive and sustainable development in the state.
During the meeting, both sides followed up on the latest developments of joint cooperation to carry out a number of development projects including Egypt’s first Waste-to-Energy plant.
The plant will process 1,200 tons of municipal solid waste daily and generate 30 MW of electricity per hour.
The project, a collaboration between the Ministry of Military Production, Green Tech Egypt, and OAK Holding, aims to improve Egypt’s climate security and living conditions.
Valk tackled the executive situation of measures required to implement the project. He said preliminary layouts were finalized for the project.
The minister commended efforts of the Egyptian state to expand the implementation of clean energy projects in a move meant to face the bad impacts of climate change.
Spokesman for the Ministry Mohammad Eid Bakr said the minister reiterated the ministry’s interest in implementing the projects with high efficiency as per global criteria and on schedule.
