Schools students examined for HCV using rapid reagents

President of the General Authority for Health Insurance, Dr. Muhammad Dahi, said that students are examined for Hepatitis C by highly trained medical teams affiliated with the General Authority for Health Insurance.

According to Dr. Dahi, the examination of the students is carried out using rapid reagents.

Dr. Dahi confirmed cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif to organize the campaign’s work, in a way that does not affect the educational process and implement the campaign’s controls, which include parents’ approval to conduct examination and treatment.

 Dr. Dahi indicated that positive cases from the examined students are directed to the 24 liver committees in the branches of the General Authority for Health Insurance distributed throughout the governorates of the Republic, to conduct more specialized examinations and analysis in accordance with the approved protocols.

He added that the committees include pediatricians trained in the treatment protocol.

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the examination of one million, 413 thousand and 94 students, as part of the presidential initiative for early detection of Hepatitis C for school students in the first year of middle school.
