PM eyes local microchip manufacture

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli held a meeting to discuss the formation of a national council for the localization of technology to manufacture microchips. Minister of Finance Mohammad Maeet attended the meeting.

The premier spoke of the importance of stimulating investment in microchip manufacture and benefiting from international expertise, thereby helping many vital industries.

The prime minister called for a plan with specific stages steps, while stressing the need for co-ordination between the authorities concerned to develop the plan.

The minister of finance outlined existing exemptions that can be granted to investors in the microchip industry and apply the benefits for companies that are subject to investment law.

The minister added that the services of a consultant with experience in this field would be required in order to draw up the plan to localize microchip manufacture.
