Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli convened a meeting at the government headquarters in New Alamein City to review the progress of green hydrogen projects.
During the meeting, Eng. Randa El-Minshawi, First Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Council for Green Hydrogen and its Derivatives, reviewed key efforts to localize the green hydrogen industry. These efforts include drafting a proposed law offering incentives for green hydrogen projects.
The incentives involve providing cash investment grants, exempting equipment and tools from value-added tax (VAT), covering VAT on project buildings from the public treasury, and streamlining the approval process with a single authorization.
She explained that the National Council for Green Hydrogen and its Derivatives was established under Prime Ministerial Resolution No. 3445 of 2023. The National Strategy for Hydrogen in all its forms has been developed, and the National Strategy for Low-Carbon Hydrogen has been completed and approved by the Supreme Council for Energy.
In addition, she highlighted the production capacities of green hydrogen projects. Currently, 23 green hydrogen projects are underway in Egypt, and 23 memoranda of understanding have been signed with global developers specializing in green energy to advance green fuel projects. She noted that the sponsoring entities have successfully signed 15 binding framework agreements with existing developers to date.
