The government of Dr. Mostafa Madbouli aims for Egypt to become a global center for green hydrogen production by 2030, targeting an annual output of 3.2 million tons under the green scenario, with an increase to 9.2 million tons by 2040.
This goal is part of a comprehensive three-year government program (2024-2027) designed to expand the contribution of the green economy to GDP, according to statement.
The Cabinet Spokesman, Mohammad El-Homsani, revealed, during a meeting overseen by Madbouli, that Egypt is targeting a 40 percent increase in green investments in 2024 and a 50 percent increase in 2025, with a focus on integrating green investments into the overall state plan.
As part of this strategy, Egypt plans to establish green hydrogen and ammonia plants through partnerships with multiple countries.
The goal is to expand the use of green hydrogen and ammonia in various industrial applications, such as the production of iron, steel, fertilizers, and chemicals, to decrease greenhouse gas emissions significantly.
