Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdel Atty, engaged in discussions with senior Ghanaian businessmen in Accra during his ongoing visit to explore avenues for enhancing trade relations.
Abdel Atty emphasized Egypt's commitment to strengthening ties with Africa, particularly in trade and economic spheres, as stated by the Ministry.
The Minister traveled to Accra as part of the Egyptian delegation led by the Prime Minister to participate in the sixth coordination meeting of the African Union and regional economic groupings at the summit level (the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.)
During discussions, Abdel-Atty highlighted the substantial growth in trade between Egypt and Ghana over the past three years, reaching $270 million from $78 million in 2020. He expressed optimism in doubling this figure given the opportunities within both countries and the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Abdel Atty also outlined Egypt's ambitious economic agenda, focusing on macroeconomic policies aimed at bolstering resilience against global economic challenges. Enhancing the investment climate, stabilizing the foreign exchange market, and removing barriers to investors are top priorities.
