Egypt’s Cabinet announced that Sunday, 6 October 2024, will be a paid holiday for public sector employees to celebrate the victory of the 6 October 1973 War.
According to a decree by Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, the decision applies to ministries, governmental bodies, public facilities, municipal units, public enterprises, and public business sector companies. The same decision applies to private sector employees.
Students in universities and schools will also be given a day off to celebrate the occasion.
This year Egypt celebrates the 51st anniversary of its victory against Israel under the leadership of late President Anwar El-Sadat.
