El-Sisi and Danish PM ink Egyptian-Danish strategic partnership declaration

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen inked a Strategic Partnership Declaration between Egypt and Denmark, along with several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in many areas, such as energy and combatting irregular migration.

The two leaders signed the agreements immediately following their joint press conference.

Copenhagen marks the first leg of President El-Sisi's tour of Northern Europe, which also includes Norway and Ireland, and the first time an Egyptian president has visited Denrmak since establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1922.

During the joint press conference he held with Frederkisen, El-Sisi said the declaration, the MoUs, and the establishment of the Egypt-Denmark Business Council demonstrate the two countries' desire to foster political, economic, investment, and cultural relations.

"I agreed with Her Excellency, the Prime Minister, on the importance of implementing the key aspects of the Joint Declaration. This will serve to significantly advance cooperation between Egypt and the Kingdom of Denmark in many sectors, including maritime transport; energy and green transition; health and scientific research; investment; agriculture; tourism; communication and information technology; combating irregular migration and terrorism; and fighting poverty and desertification," El-Sisi noted.

He also expressed Egypt's gratitude for Denmark's recognition and support for its efforts to safeguard its water security, an existential priority due to the country's severe water scarcity.
