The Egyptian government revised the latest preparations for the Egypt-EU Investment Conference set to be held on Saturday 29 June in Cairo, inaugurated by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The cabinet led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reviewed the final draft of the conference agenda in a meeting with other ministers, according to the Egyptian Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsani.
They finalized logistical details and media coverage plans just days before hosting the conference.
El-Homsani noted that the conference website has received 632 registrations from European individuals and companies and international institutions, and 647 registrations from Egyptian individuals and companies, excluding government officials and agencies.
The meeting also reviewed the names of high-profile guests confirmed to attend from the European Commission, including President Ursula von der Leyen and attendees from global institutions and multilateral partners.
Moreover, he stated that the meeting outlined the features of the discussion sessions to be held during the conference, which will include high-level Egyptian and European officials.
These sessions will focus on industry, energy, the automotive industry, information and communication technology, financial investment, and other sectors.
El-Homsani further explained that the meeting reviewed the mechanism for organizing bilateral meetings between private sector companies from Egypt and Europe and between the private sector and relevant ministers.
They also discussed the status of various project deals, contracts, and joint memorandums of understanding expected to be signed during the conference.
These deals span several sectors, including sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy and electricity, food security, health, education, sustainable transport, water and sanitation networks, and small, medium, and micro-enterprises and the environment.
Furthermore, the meeting covered the final details of the conference's media coverage plan, in coordination with the Egyptian State Information Service, which will invite representatives from accredited global media institutions and agencies.
The conference, taking place on 29-30 June, will be the first major step in implementing the Egypt-EU Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership agreed upon by both sides on March 2024 during the Egypt-European Summit in Cairo.
