In a landmark visit, Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah embarked on a state visit to Egypt, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, marking his first official trip to Egypt since assuming his position as the Amir of Kuwait.
President Sisi and the Kuwaiti Emir held bilateral talks followed by an expanded session involving members of both delegations. Discussions delved deep into the longstanding and close bilateral relations between the two countries, with mutual appreciation for the strength of these ties across official and popular levels.
The discussions also covered various areas of mutual cooperation, including investment, trade, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, culture, and tourism. Both sides praised the current progress in these sectors and the continuous growth in economic and trade relations between the two countries, reflecting their shared interests and Kuwait’s pivotal role as a strategic partner for Egypt.
The Kuwaiti side commended Egypt’s unprecedented development achievements across all fronts and its efforts to improve the investment climate, attract investments, and facilitate business for investors. President Sisi expressed appreciation for the care provided to the Egyptian community in Kuwait. Both sides stressed their commitment to enhancing trade and investment relations in the coming period.
Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of concerted efforts in regional and international forums, emphasizing the need for peace, dialogue, and diplomatic resolution of conflicts in the Middle East, in line with the values of tolerance and respect for sovereignty.
Furthermore, both sides stressed the imperative of a timely withdrawal of foreign forces, mercenaries, and militias from Libya, along with the reunification of military and security institutions under a unified executive authority capable of governing all Libyan territories.
The Kuwaiti side reiterated its full support for Egyptian water security, emphasizing Egypt’s rights in the Nile waters and solidarity in protecting its water interests. They expressed concern over unilateral actions that could harm Egypt and Sudan’s water interests.
Regarding maritime boundaries, both parties stressed the importance of completing the delineation of Kuwaiti-Iraqi maritime borders in accordance with international law, asserting Kuwait’s sovereignty over the Dorra gas field and rejecting any claims from other parties in the area.
In a gesture of appreciation, President Sisi awarded the Kuwaiti Amir the Order of the Nile, symbolizing the strong ties between the two brotherly nations.
