General Authority for Investment receives Excellence in Sustainability Award

The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones has been awarded the Excellence in Sustainability Award in recognition of its efforts in attracting the Haier Egypt Electronics project, which is one of the most prominent investment projects in Egypt. The award was presented to Mr. Hossam Heiba, the CEO of the Authority, on the sidelines of his participation in the 28th International Investment Conference, held in Riyadh from 25-27 November.

This award acknowledges the Authority's efforts in developing an attractive investment environment for projects that support sustainable development plans by adopting advanced environmental, economic, and industrial practices, achieving Egypt's Vision 2030, which combines high economic growth rates with the protection and efficient utilization of resources.

The Authority received the award after competing with 84 distinguished investment projects from 40 countries. The Haier Industrial Complex was among the first projects to obtain the golden license, which consolidates all necessary permits for establishing and operating facilities under a "single approval." It is the first environmentally friendly industrial complex in Egypt, built on an area of 200,000 square meters with an investment cost of 135 million dollars for the first phase to produce household appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines, and screens to meet local market needs and for export. In 2024, the production of the first phase of the complex began, and 40 million dollars were invested to establish the second phase on an area of 50,000 square meters for the production of refrigerators and freezers.

Through the golden license and other supportive sustainability measures, the Authority has successfully attracted numerous projects that contribute to achieving global sustainability goals, including projects in renewable energy, transportation, logistics, and industrial production based on modern, environmentally friendly technologies.
