Cairo to host WUF12 on Nov. 4-8

Amid significant global momentum, Egypt is set to welcome delegations and high-profile officials from various countries for the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12).

The event, scheduled to be held on November 4-8, will be organised by the UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), in co-operation with the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Local Development.

The forum is a key global event within the UN agenda on urbanization and sustainable urban development. The worldwide event underlines Egypt’s strategic position as the first African country to host the forum in 20 years.

Egypt is a regional and worldwide leader in development and peace. It prioritizes urban growth. It was one of the first countries to adopt the new urban agenda, as seen by the high number of urban development initiatives, such as new 4G cities, as well as efforts to enhance quality of life, such as the “Decent Life” initiative and the project to eliminate slums.
