Minister of Labor Hassan Shehata on Friday had a meeting with Head of the Swiss Labor Directorate Boris Zürcher to discuss a set of issues related to the labor market in the two countries. They also discussed means of cooperation between two countries in various fields of work, including employment, skills development, and legislation.
Minister Shehata stressed that Egypt attaches great importance to adherence to international labor standards, as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi approved Egypt’s accession to the Maritime Labor Convention and deposited the ratification papers with the organization.
Minister Shehata said that the most prominent activities carried out by the ministry with the organization are related to freedom of association, Social dialogue, better work, gender equality, and combating the worst forms of child labor. The minister stressed all of these issues are addressed in development projects.
