Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli on Monday held a meeting with Chairman of the National Press Authority (NPA) Eng. Abdel Sadeq El-Shorbagi, to review NPA’s various activities.
During the meeting, Madbouli stressed keenness on maintaining continuous contacts with officials at media Organisations for the major aim of overcoming any obstacles, and challenges, as well as assisting in the ongoing reforms, and steps to make optimum use of the assets of the national press institutions, in a way likely to contribute to improve their financial position.
Madbouli highlighted the major role of the national press institutions as one of the top arms of the Egyptian media which constitutes one of the country’s soft power tools, contributing to enlightenment.
As the meeting started, the NAP chief thanked the prime minister and the various government agencies, for their extensive support to the national press institutions pertaining to key files, foremost of which is the bid to recover the assets of the press institutions, and directing them to the best investment.
Shorbagi reviewed the situation relevant to the areas of land owned by the national press institutions, which are currently being well invested, to bring in profits to improve their conditions. He also addressed the situation of the educational institutions affiliated to the institutions, such as the Ahram Canadian University, and Akhbar Al-Youm Academy.
Shorbagi also referred to NPA efforts to provide training to journalists, administrative staff and workers of the national press facilities, aiming to promote their professional performance.
Moreover, he referred to ongoing efforts, in co-operation with a number of concerned authorities, to launch the “Spot” website, aiming to bolster the professional performance of the national press. It will also offer a fresh and advanced media service, keeping pace with the relevant technological developments.
There will be coordination with the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre, to allow “Spot” to present true information and facts on state efforts in various development and service sectors, aiming to clarify the full picture for all citizens, and to quash rumors.
