Prime
Minister Mostafa Madbouly, issued a decision announcing Thursday, September 28,
as an official holiday on the occasion of al-Mawlid
al-Nabawi (Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday).
The decision stated it would be a paid holiday for workers in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and private sector companies.
Madbouly announced Thursday a holiday, instead of Wednesday – corresponding to the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 1445 on the Hijri calendar – as it is customary to transfer mid-week official holidays to the weekend so that employees can get a longer break.
