The government is committed to providing all assistance to the National Election Authority (NEA) to perform its duties and hold the upcoming presidential election in the best manner possible, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli said.
Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday to identify the roles to be assigned to the ministries concerned to help the authority streamline the procedures of the upcoming election.
He said the meeting is intended to discuss the logistic and organizational measures needed to facilitate all aspects of the electoral process by providing the authority with all the documents, data, and information it needs to carry out its duties under Article 21 of Law No. 198/2017 on the National Election Authority.
Held in the presence of the ministers of justice, health, finance, and education, along with a host of senior officials from the state bodies concerned, the meeting took up the government responsibilities under the law and constitution during the forthcoming election, expected in February, according to Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad.
The Cabinet convened its weekly meeting Wednesday to discuss a number of political, economic and social files.
Figuring high in the agenda of the meeting were the latest international developments and the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
The ministers also discussed Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli’s participation in the Africa Climate Summit in Kenya on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
They also followed up on the implementation of decisions of the Supreme Council for Investment, as well as the files of industry and exports.
