Local Development Min., Cairo Gov. follow up services in Asmarat city

Minister of Local Development, Hesham Amna, accompanied by Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, made a tour of inspection, Monday, of the Asmarat Alternative Housing Project in the capital to follow up on services provided to residents in different sectors and fields, including health, education, sports, culture, and economic empowerment of families, and availability of food and strategic commodities during the holy month of Ramadan.  

The minister and the governor were also accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Jihan Abdel Moneim, Head of the Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority Ehab El-Shershaby, and Assistant Secretary-General Yahia Al-Adgham.

During the tour, Amna stressed the keenness of his ministry to follow the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to eradicate the informal settlements in Egypt and develop all unsafe areas in Cairo and other governorates to provide a decent life to the residents of these areas.

Amna further asserted the ministry’s commitment to the instructions of Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli to continue efforts to maintain and preserve those projects that cost the state billions of pounds to provide a decent and appropriate life to the residents of informal and unsafe areas in the framework of political leadership’s interest in building Egyptian human and provide them with essential services.

Amna added that the Ministry of Local Development follows up periodically in cooperation and coordination with the executive bodies of governorates on the alternative housing projects implemented by the state to inspect the maintenance works of the buildings to ensure the safety of housing units.

For his part, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted that eliminating informal settlements is one of the mega projects that reflect the state’s care for citizens and the political leadership’s keenness to provide a decent life and healthy environment to create a strong generation physically and psychotically with deep values of belonging.  

Moreover, Abdel Aal said that the state strives to create a full-service community for the residents of informal settlements and unsafe areas, noting that the state provides full support to the talented youth of these areas, giving them a chance to show their talents in many sports.
