Egypt’s Minister of Justice Omar Marwan has highly praised the great importance President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attaches to protecting Intellectual Property (IP) rights, within the framework of the state’s policy in implementation of Egypt 2023 Strategy.
The minister’s statements came during a speech before the 1st regional forum on modern judicial applications in the field of protecting intellectual property rights in both traditional and digital domains on Sunday.
The minister cited aspects of cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), including training sessions for judges on issues related to protecting intellectual property, copyrights and patents, in addition to streamlining related official information on the WIPO Publish IP Portal.
According to the minister, Egypt will be the first Arab country to publish on WIPO’s Online portal.
A number of representatives of Arab judicial organizations, as well as Arab judicial experts are taking part in the regional gathering, with a view to crystalizing a visions that aims at facing up to all challenges besetting protection of intellectual property, especially in light of an accelerating technological path and a rise in use of artificial intelligence trends.
Reaching a number of recommendations that would help build up an integrated system for protecting intellectual property to contribute to realizing economic development and luring more foreign investments is also figuring high on the gathering’s agenda.
The gathering is held in cooperation with the WIPO and under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
