FM affirms Egypt's support to Tunisian president's measures

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry affirmed "Egypt's support to President Qais Said's measures and efforts aimed at building a better future for the Tunisian people, accomplishing stability in the country, and establishing the pillars of the new republic," as indicated in the ministry's press statement.

That was during his meeting with Tunisian counterpart Nabil Ammar as they also conferred over the civil wars in Libya, Syria, and Sudan, as well as the Palestinian Cause, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue, the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine War on the region, illegal migration, and relations with international financing institutions.

The two ministers stressed the necessity of maintaining the current level of coordination between the two countries on those issues and challenges, in light of the precarious circumstances the world is enduring and that mandate solidarity.

Minister Shoukry headed Monday to Tunisia to meet Tunisian President Qais Said as he will deliver a verbal message from President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi on bolstering bilateral ties, as indicated by the ministry's spokesperson.

Minister Shoukry departed from the Chadian capital where he took part in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Countries Neighboring Sudan. The main purpose of the visit to Tunisia is participating in the 15th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Political Consultation Committee, as the minister discussed with his counterpart Nabil Ammar bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international affairs of joint interest.

The two ministers also tackled preparations for the next meetings of the Egyptian-Tunisian Supreme Committee and the Joint Trade Committee, as well as activation of the joint business forum.
