Egypt, UNODC complete 'Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program

Egypt celebrated the completion of developing nine facilities within the "Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program for Juveniles in Conflict with the Law" implemented in partnership with the UNODC and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

The program focuses on three areas that are the rehabilitation of children, teaching them different life skills, and capacity-building of workers in the facilities. That is in addition to legal support with issuing identification documents as well as providing medical care, delivering educational programs, facilitating reintegration with families, securing houses, creating jobs, and funding micro businesses.

The duration of the program has been extended for five years since 2021 in order to develop more facilities so that the total would become 20.

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine El-Kabbaj stated that the nine facilities where the program had been completed were located in Cairo and Alexandria, and that work would continue in 11 others until 2025.
