Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday stressed the extended strategic partnership relations between Egypt and the United States and looking forward to strengthening coordination and consultation between the two sides on various political and security files and regional issues.
The president’s remarks came as he received US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires in Cairo Daniel Rubenstein, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, visions and viewpoints were also exchanged on a number of international and regional topics of common concern, as well as some issues of bilateral relations.
The recent developments and events in the Palestinian territories, joint efforts and Egyptian endeavors to contain the escalating tensions of the past days were reviewed during the meeting, the spokesman said.
In this regard, President Sisi stressed that the developments of recent events in Palestine confirm the importance of working immediately within the framework of the political and security tracks to calm the situation and limit the adoption of any unilateral measures, Spokesman Radi said.
President Sisi also emphasized Egypt’s firm position of calling for a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international references, and in a way that solves this pivotal issue in the region and opens up the prospects for peace, stability, co-operation and construction, the spokesman said.
For his part, Mr. Blinken asserted that Washington counts on constant coordination with Egypt under the leadership of President Sisi in restoring stability, achieving calm and containing the situation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, Spokesman Radi said.
