Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal called on individuals and institutions to hurry up and participate in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects with competitive projects to attract new investments in Cairo and represent the capital in the appropriate image given its potential and cadres.
Abdel Aal pointed out that the initiative has achieved many gains, the most important of which is becoming one of the state’s leading efforts to achieve sustainable development goals by encouraging citizens to think of solutions for the risks of climate change.
More than one domestic and international forum commended the initiative as it was considered one of the most successful initiatives, launched during the climate conference COP27 held in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh last November, since it offered Egyptian solutions to several environmental problems, most notably, handling waste, Abdel Aal said.
Moreover, the initiative reflected the importance of collaboration between government institutions and each other and with civil society and the private sector to achieve sustainable development goals, Abdel Aal added.
In this context, the Cairo governorate held an introductory lecture on the 2nd round of the smart green project initiative via Zoom for 100 trainees of the Arab Gulf Union.
The lecture included a full definition of the initiative and a presentation explaining the requirements and mechanisms of registration via the initiative's website from April 2023 to May 2023.
The governorate also organized several seminars at the headquarters of the Egyptian Red Crescent and Misr El-Qadima district in cooperation with Social Solidarity Directorate in the presence of more than 50 NGOs.
