Planning Minister launches the governorates competitiveness index

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El Said, launched the Egyptian governorate competitiveness index. The index will present substantial evidence of the suitable investment environments in each governorate, in addition to the regional integration process.

El Said highlighted that this is the first integrated and multi-dimensional index to monitor the growth of the inclusive and long-term economy of the Egyptian governorates.

The minister noted that the index aims to identify the advantages and competitiveness of Egyptian governorates to fill in their development gaps, during her speech at the opening session.

In addition to that, the index will act as a tool to assist government decision-makers in making decisions about local resource privatization to achieve balanced development.

El Said recently chaired the National Wages Council (NWC) Monday meeting, in which the council set the minimum wage for private sector workers at LE 3000 up from the previous EGP 2,700, starting in July 2023.
