Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna met with Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal on Saturday at the Local Development Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, Amna and Abdel Aal followed up on the implementation of the directives of President Sisi and Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli regarding the ongoing projects in the capital as well as the service files that affect the citizens’ daily lives.
At the beginning of the meeting, Amna reviewed with Abdel Aal the executive status of the investment plan projects of Cairo’s districts for 2023/2024, aiming to meet citizens’ needs and achieve their satisfaction. These projects also aim to improve the environment, support the needs of the districts, and enhance the performance of services for the citizens.
Amna also stressed the importance of the governorate's follow-up on the investment plan projects to ensure their completion within set timelines and to overcome any obstacles.
For his part, Abdel Aal asserted his periodic follow-up on the implementation rates of the investment plan projects, as well as tours of the deputy governors in all areas, contributing to the improvement of the services provided to the citizens, on top of them are cleanliness and paving of Cairo’s streets and squares.
During their meeting, Amna and Abdel Aal followed up on the implementation of the Prime Minister's initiative to reduce the prices of basic and strategic goods for citizens, as well as the inspection campaigns carried out by the governorate in coordination with the governorate’s executive bodies and all relevant authorities to ensure the traders’ commitment to reducing prices.
Moreover, Amna pointed out that the ministry seeks to expand the establishment of fixed and mobile outlets to provide high-quality commodities at affordable prices, contributing to achieving the initiative's goals of enhancing social protection for low-income and the neediest categories. He also referred to the weekly follow-up by Dr. Mustafa Madbouli on the efforts of the governorates in executing this initiative.
In another context, Abdel Aal and Amna reviewed the efforts of the governorate in confronting encroachments on agricultural lands and building violations as the minister emphasized the political leadership's directives to decisively address such illegal practices and take necessary legal actions against violators of building regulations or encroachments on state properties, and to identify and remove any new cases promptly.
Furthermore, Amna and Abdel Aal discussed the file on solid municipal waste management, especially the services provided by Erteqaa for Integrated Services and recycling and Enviromaster for Environmental Services and recycling, including collecting waste, treating, recycling, and safe disposal of waste in Cairo’s east and west areas following the signed contracts between the governorate and the two companies.
Amna also highlighted the President’s keenness to follow up on the implementation of the ongoing national projects across Cairo, stressing the importance of continuous monitoring of the cleanliness file in Cairo and the work of the two private companies responsible for managing and collecting waste in eastern and western Cairo. He added that Sisi also follows up on the efforts of Cairo’s Cleaning and Beautification Authority to remove waste accumulation and improve the cleanliness level in Cairo and ensure citizens’ satisfaction with the authority’s services.
Regarding the new solid waste management system, Abdel Aal thanked the minister for his continuous support and contribution to improving services for the safe disposal of waste.
Concluding their meeting, Amna and Abdel Aal reviewed the efforts of the governorate in monitoring the implementation of ongoing national projects, such as the project of developing informal and unsafe areas in the capital and their endeavors to remove all obstacles facing the residents of these areas and respond to their requests to contribute to improving the quality of their lives and providing a decent life for them.
