President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met, on Tuesday 12/12/2023, with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sweilam. The meeting was also attended by Head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the President reviewed progress of the ongoing cooperation and collaboration projects in the field of irrigation and water resources with Nile Basin countries, particularly rainwater harvesting reservoirs and underground drinking water stations. This is in addition to projects aimed to purify irrigation canals, protect against flood risks, and establish river ports.
President El-Sisi stressed the vital importance of cooperation with Nile Basin countries, which represents one of the fundamentals of Egyptian-African joint action, notably in light of the human potential as well as diverse technical and institutional expertise that Egypt possesses in the field of water resources and other areas. The President noted that this contributes to the implementation of a number of joint development projects that render joint benefit for the African continent.
