Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted the state is supporting all serious steps to expand the use of clean energy in different sectors.

The move is meant to maintain Egypt's leading and pivotal role at the local, regional and international levels following the convocation of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), which was held in Sharm El Sheikh city, he added.

The premier's remarks came while attending the signing ceremony of contracts for selling electric energy produced by stations of the Authority for the Development and Use of New and Renewable Energy to the four IT companies working in Egypt to help affiliated bodies run on clean energy at the cabinet's HQ in the New Administrative Capital on Wednesday.

The inking ceremony was also attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.

Shaker said the contracts are part of efforts aimed at implementing the state's strategy for promoting the usage of renewable energy in order to help further conserve the environment and down relying on traditional energy sources in accordance with Egypt Strategic Vision 2023.

In turn, Talaat said the step comes in line with goals to achieve policies and strategies of IT companies in Egypt to attain transition to renewable energies usage in offering IT services and solutions.
