Transport minister reviews Cairo Metro’s planned 6th line with Alstom VP

Egypt's Minister of Transportation Kamel El-Wazir discussed with Vice President of the French company Alstom Andy Delon the latest developments plans for the Cairo Metro’s sixth line, during a meeting in London on Saturday.

The two officials reviewed the final version of the planned agreement governing the project, according to a ministry statement.

The future line will extend in a parallel path to the first metro line to reduce the burden on it.

The line will comprise 26 stations stretching 34 kilometers from Al-Khosos in the north to New Maadi in the south.

It will intersect with the first line at Demerdash station, with the third line at Abbasiya station, and with the fourth line at Magra Oyoun and Sayyeda Aisha stations.

Both sides also discussed a number of joint projects as well as future cooperation in the transport sector.

Egypt is working on building additional metro lines and expanding existing lines in the country’s capital.
