Following the instructions of Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli and in the framework of the government effort to monitor commodity prices, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal conducted Sunday a sudden inspection tour of several outlets across Cairo to ensure the availability of strategic commodities affecting citizens’ lives. Last Saturday, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli issued a decision classifying mixed oil, beans, rice, milk, sugar, pasta, and white cheese – as strategic commodities to regulate market prices.
During his tour, Abdel Aal asserted that all state authorities and executive bodies of Cairo governorate are making great efforts to confront high prices, offer citizens affordable commodities, and ensure their availability to meet citizens’ needs.
Moreover, Abdel Aal urged officials to intensify daily inspection campaigns to ensure merchants’ commitment to displaying clear and legible price tags on each commodity, inspect the quality and expiration date of products, control product prices, confront commercial fraud, and prevent monopoly by taking all necessary legal actions against the violator.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Dr. Hossam El-Din Fawzy, Director of the Supply Directorate Naser Thabet, and several officials of Cairo Governorate.
