PM inspects transport ministry’s pavilion at TransMEA

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli along with Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir inspected the Transport Ministry’s pavilion at the 5th Smart Transport, Infrastructure & Logistics Fair & Forum for the MEA Region (TransMEA).

Madbouli listened to a detailed explanation from Chairman at National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) Tarek El-Gweili, who affirmed that the authority continues to implement a network from electric traction lines with a total length of 2,700 km.

Furthermore, Chairman of the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) Mohamed Amer Abdel Aziz said that the ENR owns 10,000 km of railway tracks, adding that 1.2 million passengers and 5 million tons of freight are transported daily.

An ambitious plan from the Transport Ministry to upgrade the transport sector has been drawn up, he further said.

The ENR signed a contract with Austrian company Voestalpine to manufacture and supply railway switches, he noted.
