Egypt, Palestine sign documents on political consultations, agriculture

Egypt and Palestine signed on Wednesday two documents, including one on political consultations between their foreign ministries and another in the field of agriculture.

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli and his Palestinian counterpart, Mohammad Shtayyeh, witnessed the signing of the two documents as the Palestinian premier has been in an official visit to Cairo, a statement by the Egyptian Cabinet said.

During the visit, Madbouli and Shtayyeh held expanded session of talks in the Egyptian government’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, East of Cairo.

Shtayyeh hailed the documents signed between the relevant authorities in both countries.

During the talks, Madbouli affirmed Egypt’s full commitment to its historic approach in devoting its diplomatic efforts at all levels with the aim of fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.

Such aspirations are represented in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, Madbouli said, shedding light on Egypt’s unwavering stance in this regard.

Egypt will remain a strong supporter of the Palestinian people’s rights, which are in line with the international legitimacy and the international law principles, the Egyptian premier affirmed.

For his part, Shtayyeh affirmed the Palestinian government’s appreciation for the diplomatic efforts made by the Egyptian state to support the Palestinian cause in all international forums.

Shtayyeh also stressed Egypt’s role as a key partner in the political vision with regard to reaching a two-state solution and preserving Palestinian legitimacy in a way that enhances the Palestinian people’s right of self-determination.
