Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevine El-Qabbag, received Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Singapore’s Minister for Social and Family Development to discuss programs and activities that support the stability of the family in both countries. Dominic Goh, Singaporean Ambassador to Egypt, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, minister El-Qabbag reviewed the various programs and activities implemented by the ministry and aimed at stabilizing the Egyptian family, the foremost of which is the “Mawada” initiative.
“The initiative aims to rehabilitate those who are about to get married in a way that guarantees psychological and social stability and preserves the entity of the modern family,” a ministry statement quoted the minister as saying.
“Work is also on for finalizing a program for drug addiction recovery, another for women’s guidance, and another for community development,” the minister said, referring to the permanent cooperation between the ministry and the Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa to issue fatwas on issues that are of relevance to these programs.
From his side, Mr. Zulkifli said that his country places family atop of its priorities, and works to combat all the risks it faces, including globalization and its negative impacts on the family.
