Following the instructions of political leadership to improve the living conditions of the residents of alternative housing projects and raise cultural awareness in these areas, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said that Cairo governorate, in cooperation with several authorities, organized several activities in Al-Asmarat, Ma’an’ El-Mahrousa, Rawdet Al-Sayeda, and Ahalina housing projects.
Abdel Aal asserted that eradicating informal settlements in the capital, one of the major challenges that the state overcame, has presented an outstanding example and a unique experiment in establishing new urban communities.
Moreover, Abdel Aal emphasized that the state is keen to provide full support and care for the new urban cities implemented as an alternative for unplanned areas, pointing to the periodic inspection tours of these alternative housing projects built by the state for the residents of informal settlements to provide residents with all needed services.
Abdel Aal also added that the activities held in the new housing projects included social and service ones, such as mobile and fixed outlets offering commodities at affordable prices.
The activities included a puppet show and performance of the “El-Laila El-Kabira” play held at the Mahrousa Coed Preparatory School and a workshop on manufacturing women’s accessories, Abdel Aal added.
Furthermore, Abdel Aal said that the Cairo governorate, in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, organized a three-day medical convoy to offer medical services to the residents of the Ma’an Housing Project.
Additionally, in the framework of the presidential initiative to plant one million trees nationwide, a total of 300 trees were planted across the cities of Al-Khayla and Rawdet Al-Sayeda with the participation of the residents to raise their awareness about the importance of keeping their cities clean and beautiful.
