Egypt launches health initiatives to improve future generations' health

Egypt has released nearly 13 presidential health initiatives aiming to improve the health of the current and future generations.

According to spokesman for the Ministry of Health Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt started with the C virus initiatives which succeeded in ridding the Egyptian people of this epidemic.

He also noted that the Egyptian state's interest in achieving justice in the health sector extended to achieving a long-awaited dream, by launching the comprehensive health insurance system.

The first phase of the comprehensive health insurance was launched in 2018, according to Abdel Ghaffar.

Egypt succeeded to be the first country in the world free of the Hepatitis C virus.

The Egyptian campaign to confront Hepatitis C virus was scheduled to end in 2030, however by 2022, the patients’ rate has depressed to less than 1%.

“The 100 Million Seha” initiative, adopted by President Abdel Fattah al Sisi achieved global success in many health aspects, and was praised by the World Health Organization for its role in eliminating Hepatitis C, as Egypt's experience in eliminating Hepatitis C became a role model.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization praised the Egyptian experience in confronting hepatitis C virus, as he explained in press statements that Egypt has tested millions of Egyptians and provided free treatment to the infected.
