Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday called a meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, and Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir to follow up on the implementation of the national strategy for industrial development.

The meeting was devoted to a consideration of the state’s future vision to bolster the growth rates in the sector, increase its share in the country’s GDP and boosting the volume and quality of industrial exports, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

During the meeting, President Sisi was briefed on the developments of efforts under way to establish integrated industrial communities and zones, Spokesman Fahmy said.

The briefings, he added, also outlined the ongoing action to support transformative industries and those that constitute areas of priority given that in all such industries Egypt enjoys the availability of a production base as well as opportunities and competitive advantages at both regional and global levels.

Following the briefings, President Sisi gave directives for intensifying the efforts aimed at developing the Egyptian industry since it represents an essential driver for comprehensive economic progress, and also given that progress in industry reflects on the consolidation and development of other sectors, Spokesman Fahmy said.

In related directives, President Sisi called for carrying on with the efforts to empower the private industrial sector and abolish any hurdles to the flourishing of activities and businesses, especially through providing a favorable environment, offering incentives and facilities in support of industrial investment, Spokesman Fahmy said.

In this connection, President Sisi called for enhancing action to consolidate the culture of added value across the Egyptian industry in a way that realizes the greatest possible benefits, at both levels of deepening local industrialization and technological development, and realizing the highest returns for the good of the national economy and people, Spokesman Fahmy said.
