World offers condolences to Egypt over victims of church fire

China, Greece, and Jordan separately extended their condolences to Egypt after a massive tragic fire in a church in Egypt killed 41 people and injured 14 others.

 

The heartbreaking incident has left the nation in a state of grief with the country receiving international condolences from across the world over the past days.

 

King Abdullah II of Jordan also extended condolences to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi over the victims of the fire in a phone call.

 

Moreover, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias sent a cable of condolences to his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry.

 

A statement by the Chinese foreign ministry circulated by China’s Embassy in Cairo also extended condolences over the victims of Abo Sefein church fire.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also offered his condolences to his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El Sisi over the fire.

 

In his telegram quoted by the Kremlin, Putin also said hopefully those injured in the deadly fire at the Abo Sefein church would soon recover, Tass news agency said.

 

The Palestinian cabinet extended its condolences to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Pope Tawadros II over the victims of Abo Sefein church victims, the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported.

 

The Greek Foreign Ministry said it is "deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in a fire at a church in Egypt,", Kathimerini newspaper reported. "Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishes for a swift recovery to the injured," the ministry said in a tweet.

 
Furthermore, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres offered condolences to Egypt over the victims of Abo Sefein Church, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident.
