President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi ordered providing an additional EGP 600 million for the presidential initiative to end waiting lists for surgical procedures, the Egyptian presidency announced.
In a meeting with acting Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, El-Sisi was briefed on the latest updates concerning the presidential initiative to end waiting lists in Egypt.
Nearly 1.2 million surgeries were conducted in 477 hospitals since the initiative's launch in April 2020, at a cost of EGP 1.6 billion.
He also directed boosting the public awareness campaign about the initiative.
El-Sisi also called for more financial support for doctors by developing the financial system of the health sector, especially those working in rare specializations and remote areas.
