Sisi, Macron assert keenness to strengthen Iraq’s stability

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting Tuesday with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the second edition of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which is hosted by Jordan, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.

 

The meeting took up a number of bilateral cooperation files, he said, adding that the Egyptian and French leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and discussed the topics tabled on the Baghdad conference agenda, stressing their keenness to cooperate and coordinate efforts to assist in strengthening the foundations of stability and security in Iraq.

 

During his speech Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El Sisi on his ability to bring together the world leaders in order to solve all issues related to climate changes during the latest UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).

 

COP27 was hosted by Egypt's Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh from November 6 to 18.

 

The French leader also congratulated Qatar on its success in organizing the FIFA World Cup 2022.
