Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his spouse witnessed on Wednesday the celebration of Egyptian Woman’s Day and Mother of the Year.
The president saluted the gathering upon his arrival at the headquarters of Al-Manara International Conference Centre in New Cairo to attend the celebration. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, along with ministers and senior statesmen are taking part in the gathering.
The celebration of Egyptian Woman’s Day and Mother of the Year, at the headquarters of Al-Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo, started with screening a documentary entitled “Bright Numbers” featuring outstanding achievements of Egyptian women, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
According to the documentary, Egyptian women participation in government reached 25 per cent, in the parliament 28 per cent and 44 per cent in the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR).
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s support for Egyptian women enabled them to assume all posts in the country without discrimination, President of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi said.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi honored a number of Egyptian women and ideal mothers nationwide.
President Sisi also awarded two women from Sharqiya and Sohag governorates the Order of Virtues of Second Class.
He also honored women from the Upper Egypt governorates of Sohag and Qena as well as a handicapped woman from Sharqiya and a volunteer to Decent Life from Beheira.
President Sisi honored late secretary-general of Egypt’s National Council for Women Farkhonda Hassan, who had been one of the leading female figures in Egypt and the entire Arab world. Her daughter Dr. Wegdan Lotfi was handed over the award.
Sisi also honored Soheir Konsowa to whom the credit is given for releasing Egypt’s first Human Development Report.
The president also bestowed an award on Mona Omar, the former assistant foreign minister for African affairs.
