Egypt’s FM discusses COP27 preparations with Danish climate minister

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed preparations for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) with Danish Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities, Dan Jorgensen.

 

Shoukry, president-designate of COP27, received the Danish minister, during which they discussed issues of mutual interest between the two sides regarding international climate action.

 

Shoukry expressed during the meeting his appreciation for the Danish minister's visit, saying it reflects Denmark's support for the Egyptian presidency of COP27 and its commitment to sparing no effort to enhance climate action.

 

The foreign minister also hailed Denmark’s hosting of the May Ministerial Meeting on Implementation, which represented an important opportunity for the Egyptian COP27 presidency in order to clearly identify the various aspects related to climate change issues.

 

The meeting also reviewed Egypt’s outlook on the key themes on the conference’s agenda, especially regarding adaptation to climate change, mitigation of its negative repercussions.

 

This is in addition to addressing loss and damage and providing climate finance in a way that helps ensure that the conference yield the desired results to promote international climate action at various levels.
