Egypt to host Arab interior ministries' conference on human rights

Egypt’s Interior Ministry will host the 8th Arab Conference for officials in charge of human rights at Arab interior ministries from 5 to 8 September.

 

The conference will be held at the Police Academy with the participation of a number of Arab and foreign human rights organizations and the countries who are members of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIM Council).

 

The conference comes within the framework of the National Strategy for Human Rights launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

 
The Egyptian Interior Ministry's host of the event represents an appreciation of the general secretariat of the AIM Council for Egypt's Arab role, the ministry added.
 
Sisi launched the National Strategy for Human Rights in September as a roadmap for human rights conditions in the country.
 

The strategy reflects the Egyptian state’s political will to promote human rights, Egypt has asserted.

 

This strategy is the first of its kind in Egypt an aims at promoting national efforts to develop human rights and respect rights and freedoms of citizens, Egypt has affirmed.
