Egypt keen to boost trade, investment ties with Zimbabwe

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the importance Egypt attaches to strengthening its relations with Zimbabwe in various fields, especially trade and investment, as well as boosting technical co-operation, capacity building and infrastructure support.

 

The president’s remarks came as he received the Zimbabwean president’s special envoy, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, in the presence of Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi, CEO of the Institute of African Knowledge and the Zimbabwean ambassador in Cairo, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

 

The president also underscored Egypt’s keenness to maximize coordination and consultation with Zimbabwe on ways to strengthen the mechanisms of joint African action, whether institutional, political or development, in a way that contributes to achieving the growth and stability cherished by African countries.

 

For his part, the Zimbabwean official expressed his honor to meet President Sisi. He also said he conveyed to the president a written message from Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in which he affirmed his country’s interest in developing bilateral relations and advancing the frameworks of joint cooperation between the two countries at various levels.

 

The Zimbabwean President said he was looking forward to benefiting from the Egyptian experience in development projects, especially in the field of construction. He noted, in this respect, that Zimbabwe intends to build a huge museum dedicated to displaying the history and process of African liberation, bearing in mind that Egypt had played a pivotal and pioneering role in the liberation of Africa.
