PM reviews developments in renewable, green hydrogen projects

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stressed the state’s interest in projects being implemented in the fields of new and renewable energy.

He also underlined the state’s keenness on offering better incentives to lure more local and foreign investments to implement these projects and expand the already existing ones.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker on renewable energy and green hydrogen production projects.

During the meeting, Shaker reviewed ongoing new and renewable energy projects, referring to the Benban solar energy plant which is the largest in Africa and the Middle East and the fourth at the international level.

He noted that the volume of investments in the Benban plant hit $2 billion and contributed to creating 10,000 jobs.

He added that the photovoltaic power project contributed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 2 million tons annually.

He also referred to ongoing efforts in wind energy projects, including the Ras Gharib wind stations at $380 million with a capacity of 250 megawatts, noting that this falls within the framework of the outcome of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
