Cairo Governorate concludes Green Projects seminar series

Cairo Governorate concluded Tuesday a series of intensified introductory seminars on how to register at the National Initiative for Smart Green projects launched by the Egyptian government nationwide ahead of hosting the 27th UN Climate Change Conference COP27 next November in Sharm El-Sheikh city.  The seminars held at youth clubs, NGOs, sports clubs, universities, and headquarters of political parties across Cairo targeted all segments of society in the capital.

The introductory seminars discussed targeted categories, the type of the projects, the evaluation criteria, training on accessing the initiative’s platform, and how to submit data on the initiative’s website from August 21 to September 7.

The submitted projects must be smart and green, following the evaluation criteria of each category. Each project must be submitted to its relevant category according to the institution’s volume and nature of work (non-profit and woman-related) and that one of the project’s phases or a prototype has been implemented.

Another criterion for the projects is to be feasible and address the pressing needs of Cairo or have a creative element and be within Cairo’s limits.

The six targeted categories of the initiative are mega projects, medium projects, small local projects, especially those related to women and the Decent Life initiative, startups, development projects related to women, climate change, sustainability, and non-profit social initiatives.

The competition between the submitted projects will be in each category separately to ensure equal opportunities for all participants.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, will be the last day for registration at the initiative, and then an evaluation will be carried out to select the winning projects which be qualified for the Higher Committee of evaluation to choose a total of 18 projects nationwide to present at the COP27.
